A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE DIRECTOR OF NURSING SERVICES

As the Director of Nursing Services you will be responsible for the overall management of resident care 24 hours a day, seven days per week. You will perform a variety of duties to provide and coordinate quality nursing care to residents. You will implement specific procedures and programs. You will guide and direct the Assistant Director of Nursing Services to see that nursing staff comply with operating policies, procedures, state requirements, Department of Health regulations, and Federal Health Care Administration regulations. You will be highly organized in order to stay on top of resident care systems, standardized procedures and nursing performance.

You will bring specialized knowledge of nursing processes and of developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents to help effectively plan and deliver the best individualized care for each of the patients whether challenged with orthopedic issues, neurological diseases, or complex medical conditions.

You will love the collaborative spirit of the facility where you will work with like minded professionals. You will have professional and strong communication skills allowing you to mentor other personnel, provide daily written and verbal reports, and provide instructions on policy and procedure.

And, your collaborative skills come into play as you play an active role on each patient's interdisciplinary team. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DIRECTOR OF NURSING SERVICES

  • Maintains a current, valid license RN, BSN preferred, and is in good standing. Possesses strong knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations as they pertain to long-term care.
  • Previous Director of Nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility setting.
  • Possesses a minimum one (1) year of experience in Nursing Service Administration. Additional education or experience in such areas of rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e., physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) as it applies to clinical reimbursement.
